Project outline:

In a push toward regionally strategic natural resource management works, the Australian government sought regional NRM plans from each regional NRM body. The three Catchment/ Landcare groups in the Mackay Whitsunday region worked with the Mackay Whitsunday NRM Group and CSIRO consultants to develop this plan, providing technical input as well as consultative works with the community. WRICMA engaged the grazing and cane growing sectors from Sarina to Whitsunday as well as the Whitsunday community, coordinating meetings during the development phase of the plan and during the wider public consultative phase.

Project achievements and outcomes:

Publication of Mackay Whitsunday NRM Plan, a document to guide NRM works across the region
Engagement with Grazing and Cane sectors to develop the NRM Plan
