Green Corps: Gloucester Beaches Restoration and Dune Ecology Extension (2005 - 2005)

Project outline:

The purpose of the 2005 Whitsunday Green Corps team was to survey beach scrub vegetation of the Cape Gloucester area, instigate control of problem weeds in the area, improve signage and vehicle/ pedestrian access as well as increasing community awareness of the threats to the beach scrub and dune ecosystems.

Project achievements and outcomes:

Gloucester Beaches brochure produced and delivered to residents
Bollards installed to control pedestrian access to beach
Weed control carried out, particularly of mother-of-millions
Community projects and groups assisted
