Main proponent:     WCL
Cash funding:   GBR Coastal Wetland Protection Program via MWNRM
Other proponents:
In kind funding:   Whitsunday Regional Council

Project outline:

A Property Management Plan including information on wetland values was developed to provide a balance for ecological management as well as productive grazing: including grazing and fire management methods for the grassy-sedge dominated wetlands. Information gathered from trial work in the first phase of the CWPP was used to inform this plan. Grazing now plays a necessary role in controlling exotic pasture grasses such as Paragrass and Hymenachne. Feral pig trapping was also conducted. An inventory at a number of locations on the property was conducted by WCL and Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Group (MWNRM) staff and volunteers from Society for Growing Australian Plants and the Mackay Whitsunday Branch of the Bird Observers Club of Australia. Information gathered during inventory was used in the development of the Property Management Plan.

Project achievements and outcomes:

Property management plan developed for 'Renwicks'
Plant and bird surveys conducted
Informative banners developed to highlight wetland values, threats and natural resource management works to protect wetland values.
Feral Pig control program in place
