Feral Fish Project (2009 - 2009)

Project outline:

This project involves a survey of Whitsunday waterways to locate feral fish such as swordtails and mollies as well as a demonstration site using an appropriate method of feral fish eradication and/or native fish habitat rehabilitatoin. The issues of feral fish and responsible aquarium/pond fish keeping will be raised with the community.

Project achievements and outcomes:

  • Feral fish survey.
  • Potential demonstration site identified.

Feral fish such as swordtails have been identified in a number of Whitsunday waterways.
