Project outline:

The Environmental Weed Control Program sought to increase the capacity of land managers to control weeds on their properties. A series of workshops were held to build capacity for weed identification and control. Land managers are encouraged to apply for assistance with weed management. Each applicant carried out a site assessment with a WRICMA officer and received a property weed management plan A Quikspray purchased with funding from the GCBF is available to eligible landholders to assist with larger/ more difficult weed infestations. For areas which did not need the use of the Quikspray, assistance was provided by the availability of small amounts of herbicide provided to the project by the Whitsunday Shire Council .

Project achievements and outcomes:

  • 34 Land managers attended workshops.
  • 22 land managers received weed management plans and assistance with weed control.
